Firebreaks are just that, fire breaks! Not only do they totally stop flammable material from getting near the globe, but they also hinder the movement of other fires. Most downlights actually spread the fire quicker by giving the fire an easy path into other rooms and feeding it with extra air. Firebreaks are fire rated for 90 minutes, giving your family extra time to get out of a fire and limiting the potential spread of the fire.
